I am pretty fucking sick and tired of having to deal with Torrents being DLed. You've all seen the connection speed I have to deal with. When the torrents are on, I cant even load google.com. My roommate runs about 12 at once and either does it 24/7 or just during the day. Oh and they usually start up right as I get down to do some work or play a game. I've grown sick of asking him to pause them for a little (and it's always very little). Is there anyway I can block his signal or make it appear that the router is down without making it obvious? It wouldn't even bother me that much if he watched what he DLed, but he spends about 15 seconds watching a 2 hour movie that took 6 days (or more) to download.
make an anonymous phone call from outside the house claiming to be pursuing a lawsuit in regards to illegal downloading of protected copyright material. just give the IP addy and scare him.
yeah just do wht butzie said most good routers let you limit bandwith, torrents suck and are very slow learn the route of newsgroups
On the routers status page, check the clients list for his MAC, then copy his MAC into the MAC filters box under the Filters page. This is how I do it at my shop during LAN parties. Or you could just set up wpa, thats how I have it at home.
the first thing i would say to do is to just block all other traffic on his IP except for port 80. if you wanna have some fun http://officepoltergeist.com/ until he gets fed up with being in front of his computer
