    Attention members and grunts:

Here are some of the latest changes to the server:

    cod2.uanconnect.com:28960

    1) Punkbuster is now enabled and will kick (not ban) for hacks.

    2) The previous map pack in your /main folder called "zzz_uanx.iwd" will no longer be needed, so you may either delete or move it out of the /main folder of you Call of Duty 2 installation.

3)Custom maps will now download only as they are needed. For example, if you are playing on Carentan and the map cycles to Anzio, the server will check your /main folder for the Anzio map and if it does not find it, it will download ONLY that map --- not the entire collection of maps. We plan to keep between 11 and 14 custom maps available at any one time. This will make adding new maps to the server easier then managing 200+ mb map packs.

    TROUBLESHOOTING

We realize there will be issues maps not loading for you and/or PunkBuster, which is why this is being posted here for those who actually visit the forums.

Q: I keep getting kicked by PunkBuster because of a "PB INT Failure", how can I avoid this?

A: Excellent question! Chances are, your Pb client did not auto update for some reason or another. You can manually update your Pb with this handy program called Pb Setup. Just use it to specify where your Call of Duty 1.3 is installed and then tell it to update. Then try reconnecting.

Q: I get booted from the server right after a custom map loads. What is causing this?

A: This is almost always an issue with too many .iwd files in your /main folder. You need to trim out the ones you DO NOT need.

The .iwd files you need in your /main are the iw_00.iwd thru iw_15.iwd as well as the localized_xxxx.iwd. These are essential for SP and MP gameplay. Anything else (including our old map pack zzz_uanx.iwd) needs to be moved out if it is causing a conflict.

You probably connected to another COD2 server that downloaded maps and or mods into your /main folder. The way I see it, the cleaner my /main folder is, the less problems I will have connecting.

Q: I got kicked by PunkBuster because of (PB HACK). What does this mean?

A: It means you are a dirty hacker and need to remove the filthy godless from wherever it rests.....Or you happen to be the victim of a cruel joke and had a more computer savvy friend "install" it for you. In either case, the needs to go or you do not play.

Q: After joining the new server, my game seems sluggish and this makes me mad. What can I do?

A: This could be any number of things. The first possibility is with punkbuster running, more things are happening behind the scenes in an effort to stop hackers in their tracks. Knowing this, logic dictates that when more things are running alongside a server, a heavier processing footprint is going to be left.

Second, you might want to check your graphics settings. A lot of the time, players leave thier rendering method set to Auto or DirectX9. Try DirectX7 and tuning the graphics down a tad and see is this helps you. From some of my experience with comments, it seems that if you have an aging system (1.5Ghz or less and 512Kb of RAM or less, you might experience these laggy effects.

Finally, remember that you are connecting to a server in Texas. So, if you are running torrents, LimeWare, BearShare, Emule, streaming media, hosting servers, etc, etc., you will experience high pings and a crappy connection - this is just a brute fact. Sometimes, you cannot help where you are located, but often times, people leave torrents uploading in the background and this will suck up a lot of you limited bandwidth.

    *******************************

This will not sum up all potential future problems, but if you encounter any more obscure or bizarre errors, please post them in the Call of Duty 2 area, and contact a UAN member or admin. We are here to help.

i had the same problem yesterday but when i reconnect with another profile the problem was gone, and if that doesn't work try to reconnect a few times with the same profile.
and maybe it helps when you delete the mods and download them again, but i am not sure if that can do something wrong...

I have not come across that issue yet, even when joining with a lot of people.

However, like Austin said, it does help to remove or delete an mods in your /main folder that might conflict with the game menu. Since the server is currently running pure, if there are any modded iwd files in your /main, they could potentially conflict with gameplay.

you no longer need to prepare for 1.3, delete every mod, you will automatically download the files needed to play on our server.

Impure client / Invalid .iwd Files Referenced

If you get his error while connecting or switching to a new map (Mirage, Algeria I have noticed) make sure you check your /main directory in COD2. All the custom maps we use are prefixed with "z_". Try and keep this directory clean by deleting useless crap, old mods, and incompleted downloads.

There are currently 17 custom maps in rotation. If you are uncertain which ones should stay, post here. Otherwise, just delete some. Worst case scenario is you have to download the map again.
