every once n a while i crash outta cod2 with a dx error..nothing further is given.I reinstalled dx 9.0c but it didn't help...any suggestions....its really just a nuisance as it doesn't happen a pile.
you using dx7 or dx9 in cod2? also did you reinstall dx9 using the redist: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en this is not protected by wga... it is 55MB and contains all the files instead of a few like with the web installer.
I got a dx problem with cod2 too. when I try to change my graphics settings, the game exits and after 20 seconds or so I get a unrecoverable dx error. I tried uninstalling dx and reinstalling from my windows cd and after that reinstalling dx9.0c and installing the october redist. all without succes. does anyone have some other ideas?
same problem freddy..it reset itself to default and now everytime i make a change it drops me to desktop with an error.I have even reinstalled the latest drivers too.
yup. that's the exact same thing im having here. resets itself everytime when I try to change it. the only way to change my settings is to manually change the values in the .cfg file
Try deleting these folders: C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\uan99\players C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 2\main\players Also look for hunkusage.dat and delete all instances of it. You might want to back this stuff up in case I'm an idiot... You will create a new profile the next time you start the game. Hope you don't play single player much...
Try setting the hardware acceleration for your sound card to Basic acceleration(in the direct x settings)goto run the type dxdiag then goto the sound settings and slide the slider down. this worked for me...i then set my resolution and reset then all other settings..it worked..
i got also a dx error yesterday when i selected another profile..but then i restarted the game and it was all ok again
Having the same issue...Will give this stuff a shot. edit- Freezie your tip worked just fine...thanks for the heads up...You rock!
whats the motherfucking deal? now i got this shit too only i cant change my settings. everytime it restarts i get the error
ok ive sort of narrowed it down its either GAIM, XFIRE, Symantec Corporate AV, or Daemon Tools that causes this im gonna assume its xfire or symantec, since theyre the only ones that update pretty much daily...
