private server patch

hey adogg,

I was wondering which private server patch you used,because I tried one from GCW,and once you patch it the server becomes 9999 on the all seeing eye,and no one can connect.

tried a second patch from another site and this one works,but sometimes people are getting awaiting cd-autherization,and have to try multiple times to log on.

Yes it's on my personal PC

Running the console without the patch everything is fine,with the patch,the console opens up,and looks fine.

but noone can see it,or connect.

in your C:WINDOWSsystem32driversetc folder there is a lmhosts file..

Edit the file and add a line at the bottom something like:

10.0.0.69 cod2master.activision.com

10.0.0.69 = is my computers ip address, so change it accordingly..

This will make COD check itself for a master server, so therefore no auth checks...

But if you want to play online with the same machine you need to remove that line, becuase that will kill all your internet game listings.. so when you go to langame and you want to list all the internet server they will not come up.

you can connect to servers still but using the /connet dnsname/ip in the console..

so i did it like this.but it still didn't work,people waiting cd key autheriz.....

Just wanted to point out the answer to Yoshicazu's question is in the release notes.

I did that,it didn't work,we had to move the server to a differnet pc on a different connection,works no problem on the other pc,just not mine

Well believe it or not,the patch was just uncompatible with my pc i guess,cause i found a different patch last night and this one worked fine.Woot!now we got ourselves 2 severs
