I'm going to start my own blog using my own URL instead of one of those crappy.blog whatever ones.... how should I get started on this project? It looks like from this site: http://www.top-10-web-hosting.com/ that I can get a pretty good deal at hostmonster.
just go w/ blogspot any site for less than $15/m is going to get hacked fairly easily (of course blogspot is probably vulnerable too...) i dont see spending that just for a blog...
$6/month on personal blog hosting is a waste of $$. might as well go with godaddy if you're willing to spend that cash. Then you should probably just check out wordpress for your blog. It's probably the easiest solution for you. I can easily set it up in about 10 minutes if you want. It'll allow you to email your postings to a specified email, which is handy.
I don't want to use a .blogsport url ... my goal was to have a url that is my name. Think of something like this blog: http://iamfourzerotwo.com/
So I take it then I need to get a website hosting service, register my domain(s) and then get an application that will help me build a blog that I then upload to the host's FTP ... sound about right?
buy your hosting, then use wordpress. don't listen to fuzion's paranoid speeches. noone is going to hack your wordpress blog. You basically upload it, setup the sql info and configure it... real easy.
The domain is the easy part ... I'm doing what Krome said to do ... Buy Hosting, Use Wordpress .... I'm using a theme and then manually altering the code on it ... and learning a lot along the way
got milk is not impact bold. there are different variations but CgPhenixAmerican is probably the one you'll want. (or Borzoi) wordpress you basically upload to your ftp. msn me if you need me.
Yeah, WordPress was fairly easy to install. The only hangup I had was the naming of the DB. My cPanel named it url_DBname instead of just DBname like I thought it would. It took a little while of checking to verify that. Now the hardest part is for me to figure out how/what I want to alter off this template I'm using. The first one is a tab that will have an option for "Ask a Question". I want it to be a website that viwers can just send me their $$$ questions and don't have to email me them. I haven't even started to research this one yet. I'll come back with questions ... Do you have a bunch of parked domains? If so which ones?
And I need to figure out how to do this at the end of my entries: Code: Technorati Links • Save to del.icio.us (55 saves, tagged: marketing sethgodin branding) • Digg This! (24 Diggs, 2 comments) • Email this • Stumble It! (3 Reviews)
