Okay I want to help some how to get out COD2 SERVER PACKED!

by getting the cod2 server packed again... I MISS PLAYIN IN A FULL SERVER... and the nobs guys are still packed with ppl but uan server is so much better... so lets start the ball rolling and lets have a little talk about it... then make a plan on how we are going to tackle this...

does anyone know where most of the cod2 guys would hang out?
map packs are they uploaded everywhere? or just on the server? I was thinking about making a torrent for it and uploading it prehaps on mininova send space and filefront?
cos the cod2 server is cracked i think this is going to give it much more difficulty in advertising it?
what haven't we got that other servers do?

I removed all of the extra map packs, making the server stock maps only at the moment. I and others are seeing alot of people connecting, then dropping to download files, never to be seen again. So right now the only thing that people have to d/l is the mod files (still 20meg, but better than over 150 mb in map packs!).

I am going to try and clean up the mod a little bit. No offence, but the music is extra space and to be honest, annoying anymore. That and sometime I will try and fix the sniper rifle sound.

Hopefully running leaner means more people connecting with less downloads/problems. From there, we can tweak, add maps (maybe only a few extra, to again, keep things small/lean).

There is still an alternate config for the tournys (t_server.cfg for those with rcon access).

Any other suggestions that aren't "take this out, I hate it!" and "XXXX sucks balls!" are always appreciated.

Torrenting does not equal pirating IMO. Unless the hundreds of Linux distros that are out there, distributed by torrent, are pirated. It, like ftp, irc, limewire, kazaa, napster, newsgroups, etc is just a transfer protocol/system/backend.

I have no problems posting legit torrents myself. I would rather an admin tell us what we can or cannot post.

nice art nice... looks like we gonna be running a leaner cod2 multiplayer... fingers crossed it'll get packed up alot alot more often... lets jus see how the daily stats are looking for this week or two... n if its gradually building up then we're on the right path for sure...

could we have a bit of a change from the maps that are currently running?
there only seems to be bout 5 or 6 in the rotation so can we have a few maps in that we havent played for a while ,not bothered what !!!!!
i aint complaining about anythin but just think a different assortment of maps would be good and to show ppul that visit server we dont just play same maps over and over again!!!!!!!

I agree if found it strange that other than offer that piece of helpful advice, he decided to FUCK AROUND WITH THE SERVER AFTER, AND ONLY AFTER, I POSTED THAT I CHANGED SOME THINGS.

Instead of letting the server languish (look it up), and I admit, I havent been on as much, I, at the behest of others, streamlined the maps. I downloaded them to my machine, left them on the redirect and only, ONLY, removed them from the server. What happened, we had at least 2 to 3 people join, quickly download, and actually play on the server.

If everyone would like, I can leave the thing alone. I have a legit cod2, so I can, like others here before, go play somewhere else with actual people.

The server will die/is dead without people. I figured we could retain more without them having to d/l megs and megs. I did what little I knew to fix it. Apparently, now, after a month of it being dead, everyone has advice.

Sort it out amongst yourselves and let me know if I can help.

Hi all. I dont know how many times ive invited every uan member and others to come play uan cod2. Pilo and a couple others showed, but thats it. i think each map, gametype, should be different each game. ctf, dm, and sd for sure, and any other you all like. oh, and definetaly more rifle only. I get tired of mgs. just my opinion, and oh yeah. Where the hell is the bashmap ,which by the way, was way beter with nades at 60. Everytime that map was on, w/players, others would always join.
Im always playin cod2, so if ever, any of u are on cod2 and need players, ill be there. I would play more cod4, but crashes, and havent been able to figure out, even after reinstalling windows. Maybe my vid card, which is a ati 1650 pro 512, and less than a year old?

I plan to replace the current mod with an older 1.6 AWE mod. That will hopefully speed the server back up (hasn't been the same since 2.0). That will hopefully fix the sniper issues.

From there, we will UAN'ify the settings.

As Bobby said, the problem is getting people on the server. Other servers around are full or close to it on most given nights. Why not ours? No regulars? Need to post the server on trackers etc.? Gametypes?

Anything i can do to help, let me know. Also that would be great to be able to switch maps, ect, when no admins were around.
:whistling1: 4 or 5 times i have been challenged to a scrim, but even if slash, weao, ect, were available, none of us had admin, since scrims are sd. Slash, Weao, and myself have been owning, playing sd. Hell, Weao is ranked 2nd, and me 3rd in Bops. Its just a thought. Let me know Butzie, and other admins, what u think.

well.. that my friend is what ventrilo is for.. i am on from 9pm-4am EST on most nights..
and depending on how laggy cod2 seems, i might upgrade to the latest extreme which i can give specific passwords to certain people and i'll disable anything that would cause lag on shitty systems..

yeah i can train bobby.. but rcon access isnt needed if i get the updated extreme.. i mean i trust him, but i dunno how much.. (no offense bobby, just dont know you too well)
