Some Helpful things to know.

Hey guys. First of all, welcome to the UAN forums. Here's a bunch of things that we get asked a lot by new players to the server, and I think would help you out. If you have any questions, there are three areas where you can post; this area of course, the technical Q's area, and the general questions area.

Things covered:

• Connecting to the server:
• NO weapon, can't choose teams or weapons are rifles-only.
• Ventrilo
• Stuck in spectate mode, or I see a checkered screen.

Connecting to the server

There are a few different ways to connect to the UAN server. Here's a little bit of explanation.

Instead of using an IP, or numbers, We have set up a hostname so that if the server ever moves, you can still find us easily!

1) Use the In-game console-This may be the easiest way of connecting. First, run Call of Duty 2 on your computer. To open the console box, press the button on your keyboard to the left of the "1" and above your "Tab" keys. It will have a ` and a ~ on it. You should see a little one-line box drop down from the top of your screen. You then want to type, or copy and paste the following into that box and press the "enter" key:

If it doesn't work, make sure you entered it EXACTLY as I have it above.

2) Add it to your Call of Duty 2 Favorites-Run COD2 on your computer. At the main menu, click "Join Game," and then uptop where it says "Source:" You want to keep clicking that until it says "favorites." Next, near the top-right, click on "add new favorite." A box will open asking you for a name and IP address. Put UAN server for name, cod2.uanconnect.com for IP, and then click OK. Refresh the list and UAN should show up.

3) Use The All-Seeing Eye (ASE)- this is a free program that you can find by doing a search on Google. If you don't have it, don't worry, this explanation is for those who don't know how to add it to their ASE Favorites folder. Open up ASE, select COD2, and navigate to your "Favorites 1" folder by clicking on it. Do a right click on the blank spot where the server list would normally be and select "New Server..." Select "call of duty 2" from the drop down menu in the window that appears, type "cod2.uanconnect.com" (WITHOUT the quotes) into the IP box, then check the little box at the bottom by "Add to Favorites 1" and click "OK." The UAN server has now been added to your Favorites, so you can find it fast!

NO weapon/can't choose teams.

This is probably the most common thing I've seen happen on the server. Players saying that they either cannot choose a team to join (auto-assign only shows), or they are spawning without a weapon.

Both of these things are because of mods in your Call of Duty 2 folder. On the UAN server, you will always spawn with a weapon, and always be able to choose a team, unless it has been announced otherwise. (In which case, this topic would have been edited also).

First thing you want to do is exit and close COD2. Next, navigate to your "Crogram filesActivisionCall of duty 2Main" folder. Mods begin with a "Z" or "ZZZ". DO NOT CONFUSE THESE WITH MAP FILES. Delete or move the mods outside of your Call of Duty 2 folder, restart COD2 and reconnect.

Connecting to Ventrilo

Ventrilo is just like Teamspeak, but arguably better.

1) Download the latest version from ventrilo.com and install it on your computer.

2) Open ventrilo. You will see 3 drop down menus at the top labeled: "User Name, Server, and Bindings." To edit any of these, click the arrow to the right of the appropriate line. Start by clicking the arrow by User name. CLick "new" and type in the name you want to use, click "ok". This is what will be displayed and announced when you connect to Ventrilo.

If you want, click "setup" and you can edit certain things. The only things I changed was: "Silence time" set to 1.5 seconds, "Inbound Amplifiers" set to 8, and sensitivity set to 35. You may have to fiddle with these numbers to get the best responses.

3) To Connect: You can do one of the following:
Open ventrilo, click the arrow by "Servers," click "new," type UAN, click "ok" and enter the following.
Hostname or IP: 72.249.124.58
Port Number: 5324
Password: terd
Click ok, then select it from the drop-down server menu and click the connect button.

You also may enter a default channel to connect to if you so choose.

Stuck in spectator mode, cannot join a team, screen looks like a giant checkerboard, see strange characters in game.


This is typically, a result of missing mod files on your computer.

1) Disconnect from the server
2) go to your "multiplayer options" menu
3) Make sure that "enable Downloads" is turned on or set to "yes"
4) reconnect

I poked myself in the ear with a q-tip and now its bleeding...

I already cleaned it out with peroxide, but now the bubbles are unbearable.
