Check out this article I found:: http://callofduty.filefront.com/news/Secre..._Enclosed;21006 This one is at CODFILES.com, the original scoop came from http://www.callofduty-2.nl , so maybe one of our resident Dutchy's can dig around and see if there's any truth to this news. X
I also heard that it is setup with very similar rcon and map tree settings. That means it may very well be run on the same engine!!!
I'm pretty sure it's a new engine developed for the game, but as it was developed by infinityward specifically for this game it will of course look and feel similar to the original engine, as it was a good thing. That's what I've got out of the press releases that I have bothered to skim.
I think it's a new and improved version of the same engine. It's using the same ports, cvar setups and general map name setup. Now this is purely speculative because non of these things mean it is for sure a modified version of the old engine ...
True... it makes sense that they wouldn't change the basics, thereby complicating their lives unnecessarily, and instead build a new engine with the same style as the old one.
If this is not all bullshit, and they use the Q4 engine I will be one happy Irish fucker. If they use a heavy modded Q3 engine, i'm going back to drinking again, but that means it should run smooth. Watch the Developer Interview 1 all the way til the end of the interview. Listen! http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/callofdu...uty2/media.html
Here's what recon we have so far: Maps it's played: Railyard - CTF Carentan Dawnville Trainstation matmata downtown Toujane Lennigrad Firestation A new gametype called "TM" no sv_punkbuster listed in the server cvars... not even on/off...
But they do have sv_anticheat Wonder if it's a rip-off of the Steam Engine? Hmmmm I smell a :Source: programmer. and I HATE the source engine. X
