maybe some one other than fuzion has to tell him :)

The one from the first one is pretty cool. But yeah, you do have a heating problem, most likely your heat sink. Find one that fits your socket and buy a hard drive cooler while you are at it.

If it continues, maybe it is vista. Reinstall vista

    Heatsink.

You aren't getting proper cooling and your CPU is shutting itself off for safety reasons because it is too hot. I have the same problem with my computer, but mine may not be the heatsink. Get a temperature monitoring program and make sure temperatures aren't absurdly high. A CPU temperature of 70 degrees Celsius is about what mine stays at, and shuts off at 73-74 degrees Celsius. You are looking to keep your CPU under 60 at all times if possible--if you aren't, you most likely have a cooling problem (HEATSINK PROBLEM).

Also, STFU, Fuzzy knows what he is talking about.

Celsius? And I though you were American. You've been working with the beaners too long

SpeedFan is defaulted on Celsius as well as everyone else uses Celsius for CPU temps, so I do, twat.

guys thanks for your replies i dont mean to repeat myself intentionally its just when I think its a heating problem... i check what ppl recommend as the temperatures but it never comes near the figures...

    will explain in more detail...

i have a quad core pc 4 gig ram. 500GB hard drive 250GB Hard drive, a DVD drive a unplugged in but fixed secondary DVD player...

ok my pc has a fan on the side of the box... one for the psu (well err obviously) and one for the graphics card which i found is on the bottom (aint i a clever wotsit)

ok so basically i have the temperatures for my gpu... it comes up to about 56 at the moment but thats cos i have a big tower fan next to it now so... but when i take it off and am playin cod4 it will reach about 65ish but definately below 70... (i can control the temperatures with the tower fan for the gpu and i can get a case so that i know generally i can get it as cool as i can)

the cores... now ok they are running at 33 31 36 37 ... when im seriously doing some work on my computer they can shoot up to about 45ish but below 50... now cleterious yours runs at 70 and still runs fine eh... but do you have a quad core or a dual core or wut have you...

what im starting tho think now is that because its 33 31 36 37 maybe cos they are so hot and probably so close to each other... dont exactly know the structures of a quad bore exhaust i mean quad core cpu... maybe the temperatures together have an impact hence having to keep it lower...

i will try a new heat sink if i can find a reasonably priced one ...

but now im just thinkin fuck it and get a motherfucker of a computer with water cooling... im spending way too much on computers at the moment when im sick of using them tho :s

i can run 2 CAD programs perfectly fine just the gpu gets blown up a lil bit...

you still think i should change my heat sink even with those temperatures...

i dont really mean to piss u guys off but i trust u guys to give me the best advice i can get

I've got the same quad as you, but OC'ed to 3.0GHz and they idle around the same temps as you. They can get up to almost 70 when running prime95-small FFTs since I had to bump up the cpu core volatage slightly. Based on your upper temps under load, it doesn't seem to be a cpu overheating issue. You could try running prime95 for awhile just to see if it does trigger your reboots to rule it out.

    Actually you are incorrect Butzie...

A micrometer by definition is a precision measuring device which outputs thickness usually in inches to 3 digits after the decimal point (ex: 0.004).
A micrometre is what you are referring to which is indeed 1/1,000,000 of a metre.

Spelling matters, eh? ...and you Canadians thought you knew everything. FYI, I know this for a fact... I use it daily. ;) (to measure my penis)

a prime95 crash could also indicated RAM issues
run a memory test or something, there should be one on the vista dvd if you have it... just pop it in and it should be on the boot menu
