This is only cod2 related in the sense that this game is everyting that cod2 should have been... but... I don't know how many of you have heard of this game. So... it comes out on march 14th. I've managed to get into the closed beta, and can only say it is amazing! I can only encourage anyone who misses tanks, large maps and all of that good stuff IW left out to check out Red Orchestra. granted, it will cost $25, and its distributed via steam. Sure glad i never bought cod2 though. Anyway, just though i'd let you guys know. It would be great to see a UAN server, or at least some of you in game info / movies / screens @ www.redorchestragame.com
You had me up to the point when you said Steam. See Steam add starforce anti crack protection to your registry, Making it more difficult to Backup games, run No-Cd's. And yes there is a Starforce Uninstaller, but if you remove it the game you just paid $25 for is useless. My Two Cents. X
Dont install games with Starforce. Yes, theres an application that removes it, but dont work all the times.
I play games from Steam and I don't see any changes with the downloaded games... My brother has the Red Orchiestra beta too, and it seems great. I wouldn't say that COD2 should have been like it though. I love the arcadish feel to COD with the 30 killing streaks and stuff... Red Orchiestra is very realistic, so if someone looks for realism, then RO would be the obvious choice. One thing negative I noticed about RO though, is that the frame rate is pretty low and jumpy even on decent pc's.
There will also be a boxed version of the game at stores in a few weeks. Although to play online, you do need steam still. Does steam automatically come with starforce? If not, i'm not sure Red Orchestra uses it.... I mean, there is not much reason to, because the game is practically a online only sort of game. With cd-keys, i imagine they feel they can control piracy without having to deploy a expensive technology such as starforce. But i may be wrong, again this is just my sense. As for gameplay, yes I would characterize it as slower then cod 1/2 in general. Probably closer to BF2. If anyone is interested in learning more about the game I would suggest this review, which does a better job of describing the gameplay then i could... there are some videos here too to watch. http://dslyecxi.com/roost_impressions.html
Waaafles, I just checked out WarRock, looks pretty cool, and free. Imma d-l it this week and give'er a test run. Thanks for the link. PS: do sebe and Rafal work for Red Orchestra? X
Lol no, my brother has a beta though... but it doesn't matter too much now coz the game comes out tomorrow
just finished downloading red orchestra well for those of u that are interested in this game well its not as good as it looks its a mix of unreal with call of duty but with a wierd bolt action type thing that dosent seem to work like it should the game play is really shitty the way u shoot and everything just dosent feel right for some reason anyways if your dling it off ur local torrent place and are planning on playing on legit servers it will work as long as u read the instructions otherwise you will be asking around
^^^IEO (in elmo's opinion (which is the only one that matters)) This game would be really really really super cool...about 8 years ago. I think the graphics are not impressive, and from the videos I've seen and descriptions I've read, it's like taking 10 steps backwards in FPS games. PS, I hate Steam, which is why I stopped playing CS.
