hey guys planning on upgrading my GFX card to a 9800 gt, looking around i see that there is also a 9800 GTX on average its about 50 bucks for more and im wondering if its worth it, if it is much better or should i not bother?

I have an 8800 GT, and it's awesome. As far as GTX being much better, I do not know.

im running a variation of a 8800 gt called the 9600 gso.. and it works great for me.. if only i had more ram and cpu speed to actually benefit me. the 9800 gtx ive heard is awesome.. you best bet is to search online for reviews on the chipset... they will most likely compare it to older models and let you know the advantages of the card.
    enjoy.

ok, so i think im set on buying the 9800gtx+ now im checking a few websites, and they have alot of different brands, sparkle, XFX BFG PNY, EVGA, all they do is differ on prices, i was looking around and they all got good reviews that i found, so is it worth more money to pay for a better brand, or is it the same? btw thx for the link Gutter, it helped

I run the bfg 9800gt oc and it works great for what I need, and it was under 100 bucks.

i like my xfx card.. but what most companies do is just change the amount of memory and what not... its al mostly just personal opinion. if you find a cheaper one that can SLI bridge.. why not get 2?!?!

that way you get a serious amount of power... SLI ftw. (i wish i had two PCI expres slots to do it.)

It's more of a project for me. I love messing with my computer. But, at the same time, 2 8800 GT cards are better than one, no matter how you look at it. May not be a huge boost, but it will be enough.

Yeah. I see what Cletus is saying though. I would just rather spend $50 or so on another 8800, than a few hundred on a better card.
