what should we do with it i suggest we shut it down and force people to the main server, there is really no need to have 3 servers are there and i really dont know how long i can afford to pay 70 bucks a month, and by the looks of donations this month we are not going to make it. any suggestions?
I personally have a much better experience playing on your server Im getting 50-80 ping in there and realized I can actually play this game (well a little anyway) I agree that running 3 servers is a bit too much.....and it makes the gameplay a little less consistant than what we had going prior to moving the "main" server. Im am little disappointed at the donation situation.......... There are ALOT of "regular" palyers I see on the server almost every day that unless its behind the scenes Ive never seen an donation from. C'MON GUYS SUPPORT WHERE YOU PLAY !!!!! Has anyone else noticed the forums a little slower than they were last month??? Your server seems to be the most popular server though by far, closing that server would mean we would probably only getting UAN people playing, and people on the forum. I personally think this would be better but may get lonely sometimes, your server always has a good few people in! On antother note you could use the 4 gallons of marmite i donated to fund it? should be more than enough cash there! :lol: 8)
Ghost is on the right track here. We should get BF2 going, addin the appropriate section to the site, perhaps split it. How is our new box holding up? everytime I'm on the site, it's either down or empty. Is ping and lag still an issue? or do people just not want to DL 30mb of crap? I say set it to stock for the mean time. go with what the majority has and can handle. Making sure to promote it. perhaps utilizing the new UAN calendar and "next actions" modules to host some kind of events will help. S&D tourny. all free. Winning team gets a 'prize' which could be bragging rights. or set it up llike a freeroll satellite. winner moves on. Leave erik's server up in the mean time, but some cash should be shifted that way, as it IS a UAN server and right now seems to be what is being used. Be sure to always have autokick spam the hell out the site and forums. raise fabzz from the dead, throw him some tags, get him to work. bla bla bla
there should be no reason not to host BF2 and COD2 on the box. If the thing can support it, then put it to work. Keep erik's server in th emean time, but either limit the games to 5 minutes, limit the player count to 10 or something, and then spam the shit out of it, and bring the traffic to the main box. main server no longer has those two 1.2 maps, eliminating the 30mb d/l (thanks forthe help elmo), so there should be no reason now to have the main server full again. the thing is krome bf2 is a resource hog so if u try to run bf2 and cod2 they prob woulnt run so smooth in the same box unless we have like dual cpu's more ram or a better cpu then a intel 3.0 and about the cod 2 thing theres a way to use the http: redirect with 1.0 ....... there would be no point of shutting eriks server down since most people get really good pings there..... theres still stuff to be fixed but its probably going to be a better choice then the uan main but once again its just my idea but doing the 2 games thing will bring more people to uan and u guys will be able to expand keeping both things and i bet the monthy money will still be the same 190 as it always was since i kno you guys are only paying for the uan box like 100-110 so u add eriks 70 and the 10 for vent and bammmm problem solved .......................
i really like the idea of a bf2 server on the main server and leaving mine the cod2 server, if we had both running we could bring some more peeps into our wourld and collect some donations. maybe we could even have uo running on the main server too.
well, since erikwade's server can only run one game, why not put BF2 on that, then we can run COD2 and UO on the main server. Maybe also a third game if resources allow. That is the most logical of any option that I can see. The pings between the main and erikwades are not THAT different, so I really think that putting BF2 on erikwades is the way to go. Thoughts?
man I love your server! its stable and my ping is pretty good there. Im there almost everyday. I'll donate to it next month.... andf i hope some more will do the same. I just didnt know that the donations made at the site arent supporting your server..... Just keep running cod2 on your server! Having a bf2 server isnt a bad idea. In that way you guys would atract a lot of peeps to your servers
cutting people off from eriks will not force people to go to the main server. If the main server is ready to go, ween people off of eriks. Promote the hell out of the forums and the other server. EVERY MINUTE. and have a message saying "This server is shutting down, join the main server at bla bla bla" and set the settings to ridiculous settings. Slow game speed and 5 minute games. This is the only reason i say don't cut it off right away. get activity on the main server, then shut it down after...10 days? divert some funds from the UAN account to it if need be. If people still cant see a big server promotion message showing up every 60 seconds, FUCK em. seriously, if you cant read, there's the door, get the fuck out, take your shoes when you go. Except you krome.
man elmo i love you, you are one of the few people who actually get it, my server does not have alot of old main server players on it, i have went on alot of forums and posted and promoted it., but yes we need to be using the main server. i do not see y it matters that the main server has to run cod2. point being i cannot just change my server to a bf2 server i have to cancel the service then start a new bf2 server which means a new ip ect ect.. all we have to do on the main server to run it is install it. dont let male ego fuck things up.
