to get my computer into safe mode, i set it through the msconfig.. yeah big mistake i get it... lets move on... now it loads into safe mode but can't login.. and restarts soon after the login screen... damnit.. i need to reset the boot configuration to start normally.. but rebuilding the master boot record didn't work. any suggestions?
So your able to boot into safe mode but run into issues when asked to log in? What exactly happens once at the safe mode log in screen? Does your system crash, BSOD (if so what is the code) or does the system give you a black screen and reboot on its own? Also what Windows version are you running?
Ive had similar occurrences when I would have a piece of hardware go bad, in particular WNIC's or NIC's. I also had some issues when I was working with some graphics drivers one time. It went south loaded up into safe mode rolled back the drivers reset and kerrrrplunk could never get it to boot. So I recovered files and wiped her out! He was doing some graphical modification to his system that was the catalyst of the failure I believe!
Yeah I was going to crack an ATI drivers joke as well, but the issue he is experiencing can be caused by the dumbest/simplest of things. Anything from Nero components (InCD 4) to anti-virus software, in reality there are only several av programs that are running kosher on W7 right now.

well.... too late now, technically its still intact, and thats good for grabbing personal files, but the new system drive is on the secondary 1tb. so i'll ghost that and port it over to the first and delete the original OS install from the MBR. and be on my way, plus, this install plays nice with the new card... and very well i might add, thankfully. now to get EVERYTHING back... damnit... this includes games. i hope i can get my dying external to stay on long enough to retreive the games backup i had on it.
that is exactly why i hate computers so much..... I swear sometimes i want to give mine a #4 treatment.
It all started when he tried uninstalling nVidia drivers and using Driver Sweeper... Don't make me put on my anti-fanboy hat.
I was unaware he used Drive Sweeper, that's probably the culprit. Drive Sweeper has a tendency to target your Windows generic display drivers when targeting key files in your reg (thus corrupting them). Drive Sweeper is hit or miss, don't use it unless you have to due to a problem.
