Yeah, but that's with 8 threads on Prime95 after about 15 mins. Nothing else stresses a CPU like that. Wish it was 65C but 79C ain't bad at all

79C is completely normal during stress testing for that chip, the thres cap for that chip is 100C. Keep in mind an i7 is going to run warmer at loads. Unlike your old C2Q, the memory controller is on the chip die rather than the mobo's chipset. During intensive gaming the temps probably never will exceed the 50's.

What are your core temps and what cooler are you using? I noticed your VCORE voltage was at 1.24V, which is good. What is your VTT voltage set at?

    Congrats on the upgrade :D

1.325V VTT (uncore) is nice and low, you may even be able to drop it more. Is the stress test on that Intel OC utlity the Intel Burn Test?

I have no idea, it just says CPU test and does max out CPU usage at 100% but doesn't get anywhere close to as hot as Prime95.
    Intel CPU test thingie:

No, it is definitely not the Intel Burn Test (Linpack) you are thinking of. I have no idea what kind of "stress" it does at 49C max :lamo:
