What is the plan for this server? Can we get a working map rotation posted? We should work on getting this server populated. Setup a server config that has some custom messaging and shit in game. There are some really good servers out there. We should find what works for us.
Admins and server mods could work out the wording for the messages, while members with Vietnam could help with good map rotations. of course this is not forcibly, but is helpful. Nice to see an almost total (active) member backing towards this game. I have high hopes for this server.
I think Bender's the one in charge of this server.. Not sure what he's got planned for it... I'll get some users set up on procon for the admins that play the game tomorrow after work.. Some of the main messages I can think of would be Vent info, visit the site, donation message, etc.. There's not much you can do with 5 map and 2 gametypes... ha ha.. But I can think on one Rush that could be removed.. Right now it has every map on there with each gametype.. but still spread out enough to keep it interesting.. Plus we need to establish some rules for the server. No heli raping (maybe set kill limits), no spawn raping, wait in line for vehicles, be respectful to all players, Listen to admins final word.
I was going to add some admin biznatches that actually play the game yesterday but PRoCon was down. Like Muddr said there are only 5 maps and 2 game-types so there is not much to configure in terms of a map rotation. Right now the server is running mix gamemodes (conquest/rush) on all 5 maps. The only thing I was thinking about changing was removing Vantage Point (Rush) from the rotation because of the fundamentally flawed choke point at the start of the map.
The server is rocking in the evenings. 347 players have joined our server so far. Seems like traffic is not going to be a problem. I would focus on means of retaining players. We should begin the recruiting initiative (inviting peeps onto vent, etc.).
Agreed the Nam server has been tits so far. I really don't think player retention should be too much of an issue. The number of well performing BC2 Nam servers is very few and ours happens to run particularly well. When I play on our server I see many of the same players that regular the other servers that I use to frequently play. I think most regular Nam players only have 2-3 servers classified as their favorites and they stick to playing those particular ones.
It's true, we are getting regulars. The server is doing better than I expected. As i said last night, I can see BC2 becoming our defining game.

You buy the key its already incorporated in a patch. Seems like it's the server thats being populated the most. It runs well, very smooth and people die when you shoot them!

I changed the map rotation a bit on the Nam server. I made it so you only play (1) round of conquest on each map instead of the teams switching sides and playing a second round on the same map. This way players won't be stuck playing on the same map for an hour. I noticed players dropping off last night when teams switched sides during conquest matches. You still play both sides of the map with Rush matches, I only altered the conquest matches. If you have any thoughts or suggestions on this let me know.
looks like bender's adjustment did the trick to inject the server with enough momentum to keep it populated through the wee hours of mexicali time. Still running full right now... 4:20AM ET
