As a PC gamer, there is a general dislike of anything that comes out of Activision's ass. That being said, CoD games are still usually good fun. A lot of people here at my dorm stayed up and got MW3 on release night and I went around and watched and played some. Here are my thoughts. When the game first loaded up, I thought I put the wrong disk in. The main menu is the EXACT MW2 main menu. After I realized that it was MW3, I played some. We all know they've used the same engine since 2005, but... come on IW. The game is 100% MW2 guns, perks, gamemodes, graphics, accessories, sounds, point system, play style... The HUD is the same, the spawn system is the same, the animations are the same, and hell.. play it a few minutes and the maps look like variations of previously used maps. It's same 'ole luck based, frustrating, 12 year olds infested CoD that we're all used to. And better yet... it's a $60 MW2 map pack that people are buying. And this map pack will eventually have it's own $15 map packs. The best part is that Activision sold 9 million copies already. And let the downfall of gaming begin. Back to BF3. I like huge maps, jets, destruction, squads, 64 players, unique guns, nice sound, and one of the best looking games of all time. People are sheep.
Since COD4 I have been dissapointed with the annual November release of COD. This year, I have other things on my mind and I am happy for it. COD will never be what it was. I understand that now. COD as a PC Clan friendly game is dead. After BLOPS, I realized finally that COD is now a console franchise and PC will never get the attention that I want it to. COD is marketed to 13 year olds who want high K and epic rank unlocks. These kids know nothing of what it is like to have a real gaming community. Unranked/modded servers are dead. The only feature that the PC version offers me is the luxury of the use of a keyboard and mouse (a laggy, choppy and rather inaccurate one at that). I cannot lean, I cannot set my maxfps, I cannot connect to a server that is full of noobs to kill. R.I.P. COD. You were fun while you lasted. I just wish that I would have accepted the truth earlier.
Yeah, until BF3 fixes their shit, it is not much better at the moment. I still get lag killed all the time.
bah 'not much better at the moment...' The game is only 2 weeks old and they have fixed a lot on the fly. Server performance has been optimized a lot, I don't see many lag kills. I'm just waiting on some more ease of use features to be implemented. If anything DICE has been prompt with updates and you know they have been working long hours. BF3 is a game that is going to last for some time, I'm not going to poo poo on it week 2.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Bender @ Nov 8 2011, 02:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div> should I remind you of your TS session a week ago ahem... cough... ahem... j/k For me, personally... BF3 has effectively merged the things I like in COD with the things I like in Battlefield. That or I've just grown to love BF. COD is fun, but lets face it. It's not 2006 anymore and it never will be.
My only really major gripe with BF3 is the server side issues and EA Blaze. If our servers didn't crash constantly they would be full non-stop 24/7... honestly probably little to no downtime.

I would have to painfully admit that BF3 is a better built game but MW3 is more my style. BF3 should ditch the 64 man servers until they can get the lag under control. I am more of a spawn, nade, spam, die kinda guy then the strategic flying stuff in BF3 but I'll admit it's an amazing experience to play.
