so my pc is being gay. like homosexual gay. if i reboot. i lose 2gigs ram i have to re seat my ram for it to show 6 gigs everytime i reboot. then after i do that. none of my games will work. i have to delete there cache files. shutdown . re seat ram.. then boot up to play. anyone know why.. and when running on 4 gigs. i get a slight stutter here and there.. game will freeze for a second or 2. but i can boot up and play the game. i cant play with 6 gigs. keeps giving me error- invalid liscense 0x0006. i talked to ea help.. there useless. even my sc2 and d3 wont play when all 6 gigs are running. wtf
i did fresh reinstall. the pc is almost 2 years old. asus p6t mobo ocz gold ddr3-2000 pc16000 tripple channel 2000mhz ram only running at 1600 mhz. thermaltake black widow 850w gaming power supply. intel core i7 920 overclock at 4ghz on all 4 cores. pny xtreme gtx 670 2gig card. i just reinstalled game. everytime i reboot. i only post 4 gigs ram unless i re seat the ram. if i get 6 gigs running and get around the invalid liscense code im getting now. i can get in game.. but game will crash shortly after. i had this same issue with bfbc2. i had to run only 2 sticks 4 gigs for a long time. dunno why. my system is liquid cooled and cpu runs in the 40s and 50's while gaming. my gpu runs in the 30's nad 40's while gaming edit - the game plays fine with 4 gigs ram but i get a slight stutter here and there where video freeze for a few secs. 4 gigs aint enough as its at 80+% usage while playing .
Fresh operating system install. Be sure to get x64. Trust me, that sounds like your os just isn't liking your hardware.
What version of Windows are you running? Run a Memtest for each individual stick of RAM in the primary dimm on your mainboard (usually the first black dimm to the left on X58 boards... if you don't know just look up the manual for your board). You must test each stick individually, usually a solid single pass or two is enough. http://www.memtest.org/
And make sure the ram is in proper triple channel and that is set up properly in the bios. Ram doesn't run a firmware, so it uses the bios default settings, so you have to set the timings and voltage yourself.
i did the memtest site. it gives me a file to boot up with.. cant figure that out. it is a new install of windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. i have all settigns setup in bios to run ram at 1600mhz and timing of 10 10 10. volt at 1.65. cpu volt is 1.35. multiplier is 20. 200 for 4ghz clock. i had this same issue with bfbc2. i was running only 2 sticks in my pc for a while. then when i put all 3 back in it was fine.. now im having same issue again
Perhaps it's an issue with the BIOS itself. Have you checked for any newer BIOS' for your motherboard? But, I still say do a fresh install of Windows. It works for tricky issues that, seemingly, can't be fixed. Recently, my GPU was constantly providing 99% usage, even on the desktop. I tried a thousand things, none of it worked, did a fresh install and all is good.
You should not have to keep reseating your RAM. Did you get sploooge on your motherboard? Seriously, are the contacts corroded because you touched them? You can try a regular pencil eraser to clean the contacts. (I would be surprised if this was the issue.) Download and run MEMTEST. Google it. That will tell you if your RAM is bad. Good place to start. You may try updating the BIOS, but I don't think it's that. Sounds like hardware to me. Another common problems like that is your power supply. Is it underpowered? or Dead? or Piece Of Shit? You might try replacing it. You can always return it, if that's not the problem. I like Corsair, but there are plenty of other decent ones. Might also be an over heating problem. Do you have decent cooling? Also, have you overclocked? Take everything back to stock and try again. Not sure if any of that is helpful. Just some ideas. Rhino
Might indeed be a broken DIMM or bad contact in one of the seats. Your system failing to post the total amount of RAM is 99% sure due to either one. Run memtest and update BIOS. Test with a different 3 DIMM set if available. <23:37:42> "miller": could it be i have bios set to xmp . <23:42:08> "MurderInc": i have no idea what that is <00:21:18> "miller": ok <00:21:21> "miller": i think i fixed it <00:21:26> "MurderInc": lol <00:21:31> "miller": i had to set my bios to auto ram speed Oh.. XMP and manual overclock to more GHz don't always play well together.. that's the other 1%. Try again with your system set to XMP with no manual CPU overclock to the side and see what happens. If stable I recommend running that and gradually increasing multiplier. That worked for me on the very machine I'm on now.
everything is up to par on the system. 850 new p/s im buying a 24gig ram kit from crucial for 190. even if i lose a few gigs from something. ill have enough to run smooth
Yeah lots of yelling.. when I'm the only one in, in the early morning.. he just won't stop. This kinda stunted apeshit lunatic shrieking you only find in special people. The ones that had a lack of oxygen at birth, or were molested as baby, had a lot of cigarettes extiguished on the as a child and stuff 'n things..
