creating maps

    hey guys,

    im willing to design maps for cod2 ... i need to know which software i should use, can anyone help mewith this? when i made some cool ones ill share em with you guys and if you like em you could use em for the server, but please help me find the software to do this.. i searched all over for it but just cant find it...

    hey, thanks for your help.. i found the first one but cant find "Cod2Dev Kit" i even googled it and it turned no results. thanks in advance

    it was released with the first "real" patch for call of duty 2. the 1.2 one. it was an option when installing the path. if you have already patched past 1.2 in COD2 then just move that copy and install a new version, then make sure when you update with the 1.2 patch you check the box marked "developer tools" or something to that effect.

    thanks, but i dont have a installer of the game.. i just copied it from a local friend.. is there a solution for this too or do i just need to get the installer? thanks for your help n im pretty much on the server in the evening.. sometimes still in 1.0 tho... but getting more n more in 1.3

    the mod tools uses the registry entries to determine if the game is installed.

    copy this to a text file and rename it so that it is cod2.reg then right click on it and click merge. reboot and try the installer again. remeber to replace the cod2 key first.

    You will need to edit the install directory if you have set it somewhere else.
    Remeber that this came from my box so it may or may not work.
    Also, my install is 1.3 so if you dont have it, you need to delete the patchlog line and replace version with whatever you have ie 1.0

    good luck with the mapping, i stared at my pc for a long ass time and came to the conclusion that a copy paste scenario would be more my speed. i couldnt make a flat sqaure map with no textures if my life depended on it.

    ill leave the map making to the pasty white kid with nothing else to do. or the the chink guy who can calculate faster on an abacus than me with a calculator.

    hahaha, ok ill try all that when i get home tonight.. thanks for the help.. i never tried making maps before, im a web developer myself.. and im pretty good at photoshop so ill just give it a try right? later guys
