I still really like the COD series. With the addition of dedicated servers and party play, BLOPS 2 might actually be pretty good.

Will CoD no more.. I lost interest after the BS Killstreak rewards were introduced in MW2. Did try BlOps too but I don't care any more. Stack a Harrier strike, a AC130 and Nuke and you win, are 1337 n stuff n things.. nothing to do with the old school gunplay it used to be. I could enjoy setting off a pack of dogs in WaW for that was pretty fun and fair to fight off though...

I understand your sentiments Mighty. I loved COD2 and COD4 mainly for the gunplay focus. The kill streaks really took a lot out of the game for me.

Anyone else going to try this game? I for one am excited about the new party system ran off dedicated servers. There will be no clanservers, but that is just not what COD is anymore.

Different game for a different time, I guess.

If the game runs well on PC this time around day one, it could be good fun. @pcdev has said that they have made some huge improvements to the optimizations for PC. I guess we shall see.

I honestly probably would of given it a shot because of some of the other games that are dying down. But after logging some hours on the XBOX version I think it's the worst game in the COD franchise. The original BLOPS was much better imo (I think I almost put 300hrs in that game).

Also free hacks are rampant with COD games and with no private servers, it's just going to be one massive hackfest all over again.

They are instituting a new Anti-cheat system. Obviously, proof will be in the pudding come release.

I think that's just another blanket statement from CODland, it will do nothing to prevent hackers. Kind of like how they said they would have dedicated servers but right before the release they say "oh by the way no private servers"... how many times have they done the ol' switcheroo right before a launch. The people at AA already confirmed their hack package will be a feature rich as it was for the original BLOPS.

I was going to make a comment earlier on how the devs will probably spend the least amount of money as possible to host these servers, as that will directly cut into their profits. Then I saw this today:

    http://www.engadget.com/2012/11/08/call-of-duty-black-ops-2-youtube-livestreaming/

Every little kiddie is going to be streaming to YouTube. It's going to be lag city... People complained about lag in the past but just wait. Do you remember how bad it was when we were forced to use GameServers.com watered down servers for the original BLOPS? I can totally see these guys trying to run hundreds of servers off a single rack and then add the YouTube sh*t on top of that... whoa.

The game is tits. I really like it.

    -Game lag is almost non-existent.
    -Guns feel good.
-Performance is really good. This game feels as optimized as COD4 and COD2 was.
-Mouse controls feel really sharp and smooth.

I would recommend anyone who bought COD4 to get this game.

Then come and join me on steam. :)

In response to mighty's post in the shout box:

I have mentioned before that I agree that kill streaks have put a damper on the COD service since MW2.

I really feel that from the games I played last night, that the kill streaks have been muted in blops2 a bit.

It could just still be too early to see the kill streaks really be an issue or not.

    In response to bender:

I played from 12-5am this morning with no MP issues whatsoever. I may be the lucky one. I will say that I only installed the MP portion of the game. Not sure if that would be the reason why I had no issue.

They just broke it for me, when playing MW2 or BLOPS or even MOH I was yearning all the time to get back to BC2.. Although maybe MOH deserved another chance cuz I didn't really have a lot of friends to play that one with..

There you go. A lot of these games are designed for Party play.

BC2 allowed for Lone wolf quite well. Man that game was fun, especially Vietnam.

BLOPS2 now has dedicated server hosted Party matches.

They run well and allow Treyarch to control the matches.
