got a 260 a while back, and the damn thing has never worked right. The graphics will corrupt in every game. I can Alt-Tab then go back, and it corrects for a bit, But sometimes the driver douches out, and I have to reboot. I uninstalled the drivers, came back in safe mode, and ran driver cleaner. Then reinstalled the latest drivers, and rebooted. Didnt do shit!! Any thoughts or advise?
If you would list your other system specs it would be helpful (mainboard, CPU, PSU, OS, ect.). Also the idle temps and relative in-game temps of the GPU. Can you describe what you are experiencing/seeing when you say that the graphics corrupt in every game (artifacting, horizontal or vertical lines, ...).
ok, PSU Allied 500 watts Its pretty new. Both pci e plugs are on the same dongle, im wondering... Amd 64 x 2 3800 Gigabyte M68M S2P 2gigs RAM XP SP3 Gforce GTX 260 temps not an issue I had a 9800, but it fried. So I went back to my old 7600 for a bit it worked flawlesly I bought the 260 and found it was so big it blocked my SATA port, so i bought a new MB with the same chipset. The corruption is it will freeze for a spit second then it finds icons, and textures in the program, and blows them up into a big checkerboard pattern filling the screen. or the shapes are fine, but the skins are all psychadelic color. I can alt tab, go right back, and its ok for a bit. Sometimes its a major crash where even the desktop is at stock resolution, and I get serious error reports, and have to reboot. Saying video driver took a shit.
did you install all the new mobo drivers i had and issue like that because a wrong chipset driver installation
Two questions... Did you re-install your OS when swapping out mainboards? What do you mean by "Both pci e plugs are on the same dongle, im wondering..."? Your PSU has (2) PCI-E 6pin plugs and your GPU only requires (2) 6pin PCI-E plugs. Where and what are you using a dongle for? *On a side note your PSU is rated at the bare minimum for a GTX260 (500w /36A over the +12V rails). Of your PSU's two +12V rails they are rated at 18A a piece (thus equaling 36A). The problem is that most PSU rails do not perform at their advertised specs (either over performing or under performing listed specs). There may be a chance that your PSU is not providing enough amps for your GPU to function properly. In reality though I think that your problem is stemming from one of the questions that I listed above.
Bender, the only thing stopping you from being a tech support guy right now, is the fact that ican understand you... pls work on your engrish... Make sure you try and reseat the card again possible some plasitc debris is in there, this was my problem a few years ago. I've moved on to new problems now...
