a bit of help needed

I don't know what happen, but now every time i go to plat COD the settings reset to default, mainly the problem is in the sound settings, any idea on what i could have fucked up, I already tried to set it in the main folder and it works for the graffix settings but i can't find the one for sound "set a"?

every time i fire CoD up it asks to restore default settings, been like that since i installed. fuck it.

You need to find your *.cfg file and make sure it's writeable, and the game can find it
when you load up.
try this:
Load up cod 2, press~ to bring down console, type seta name "merobone" hit enter
you'll get some generic response from the console.
CLOSE Cod 2
Re open Cod 2 and Join a server, look in scoreboard (tab) and see if your name is merbone, if it is
then your cfg is writeable, and the issue is probably a PB issue.

Let me know what happens.

boot into safe mode and change all the permissions for the activision folder and all subfolders and files to everyone and check allow all

Got another one for you guys, I just bought a kick ass pair of headphones and the connection is (2) jacks,one mic and one earphones, my last set was USB, my problem now is that i had to disconnect the regular speaker jack to hook up the earphones, My question is if I plug the speakers in the front of my puter will i get the same quality that i get from my super dooper audio card plugs in the back?

You most likely will not get the Kikin-ass quality, but you will get the same quality you did from your USB headset. Also your front audio ports are probably disabled because the on-board audio is disabled.
You need to boot to your bios and enable the On-board audio, then tell your games to only use the On-Board (Probably Realtek, C-Media, or SoundMax).

I was able to follow you until the "tell your games" does that mean that when im gaming it will sound only from the speakers or the sound card/ Headphones? And can you explain a bit on how do i tell the games to do that? TY
