Buy it from steam. It comes with beta key and you can play it the day its released.

Depends on how they integrated it... some games need Steam, some don't.
I would assume you don't need Steam running considering you can get it elsewhere. Then again... not sure yet. I have no problem running Steam anyways...

I'm pretty sure Steam is running anytime you play a game you got through it.

I don't have that game on PC, so I couldn't tell you. In my experience, When ever you start a game you got from steam, the little Steam window pops up, loading the game. Either way, it doesn't matter to me.

On non-valve games usually, you are able to create a shortcut to the game's .exe in steam/steamapps/common/<game>/
Obviously this means it isn't actually starting through Steam, hence not needing Steam running. This is how GTA4 is along with a few others.

Should be an amazing game, if it live up to its current word. It should at least be better then a few recent titles....

the hit boxes were right on target on the ps3.. so we'll see.
