I need your help guys. One of my very good friends is going to build his first gaming computer. His budget isn't all that much. He wants to spend no more than $800, but less is preferable. He already has a monitor, so he doesn't need one of those.
go to walmart, buy a complete system for $350, then order in a vid card, and a power supply, insert and play...worked for me, i think i did it all for less than $700, and that was quite awhile ago, i picked up a seasonic 550w, and an EVGA 9800GT for fairly rasonable. good luck
I thought about that. but I figure if we get real picky, we can build one from the ground up cheaper. Thanks for the suggestion. If it turns out we cannot, then I just might take your suggestion.
just check the ones at walkmart... most of the time.. you might not get PCI express. sometimes.. they try to bring back the ol AGP, ask cletus about that one.

ya, price out an OS, and then look at walmart, and subtract from their price what the OS would cost. remember to DL an OEM install disk for the OS incase you wanna do something like changing HDD's or something. its well worth it to go my route....PLUS, you say you dont need a monitor, but you do get a 19" with most deals and you could just sell that off and that goes towards your new gear. ground up builds seem like such a good idea....til you do it half assed and dont get what you reallt intended to.

Boba... here is an idea for a vid card and power supply... Nice midrange vid card... and decent PSU. MSI GTX260 Antec 650W PSU
I wouldnt put a gtx 250 or above in any walmart case. Those video cards are nine inches long, and like 4 inches thick, aka 2 video cards in one. So you better make sure it will fit before you order
You can be cool and just get the case and bask in the glory of how good the case is... *cough*Cletus*cough*
