I agree but in defense of the current situation where servers are down... well the fucking game isn't released until 12am tonight eastern. So the people that were playing either stole the game <---(part of the reason we as the PC community is being fucked by these companies.) or people bought it from a store that accidentally released the game early.

also to add to iwaz's post, we all crashed to desktop at different intervals, not all at once,

also what frightens me is the amount of control being taken by these companies , if they decide to take the servers down in a year ( which I'm sure they wont) or 3 yrs from now, no one can play single player let alone multi player. multi is one thing , But single player..wow.. (not trying to discourage you , just what scares me about the current trend of games)

and thus the age old question, what came first the chicken or the egg ..... did pirates ruin videogames or did "dumb ass cookie cutter" games that you wanna play, but know better than to lay down 70$ for 5 hours of single player?

I agree with you to a point I fear the future for PC gaming. However BF2 has been going strong for almost 6 years and there is no word on them ever taking the server farm down.

2 cents: if they can turn off the beta with a switch, why on earth would people not think they would turn off games no longer viable to support, or have 'new' versions they want everyone to buy.

I used to work for a software rental store about 20 years ago, and everyone would as "is this legal?". Not sure, but it appears to be a popular business model now.

LMAO! Look why sit here and bitch aimlessly about something that we obviously have NO control over. The PC gaming world has changed and its not going back to what it was. Either we change with it or the changes can leave us in the dust. I prefer to play the games so therefore I am forced to change. BTW BF2 has been out for 6 years now and again I highly doubt they will be taking down EA account servers anytime soon. You know what if they do so fucking be it I have played the shit out of that game my 39.99 has been recovered time and time again!
