ok well i think i finally got my shit of a computer worked out but now i cannot install dx9 because windows says its not a signed driver or whatever. Its fucking driving me crazy and i have no idea how to get passed it.
Try this My Computer -> Properties -> Hardware then hit Driver Signing See if the option to block o Never install unsigned driver Software is enabled. If it is enabled, change the option to Warn o Prompt me each time to choose an action. [UAN]Sniper69
ah shit i tried that its actually something with logo testing and i tried about god damn everything ranging from reregistering files to messing with registry uninstalling stuff so on so forth with no luck. I caved and am on the phone with microsoft right now doubtful they can do anything but i can always hope.
ive done a good 4-5 in the past 3 days and i just got everything BUT it installed so no fucking way. spent enough damn time looking at windows install screens. Also one thing i noticed is that the install stops on dinput.dll
Hmmm, maybe it isn't liking a peripheral that you have plugged in? Is it professional or home edition?
its xp pro and im using the same installer ive had on a cd for a long time + a new one neither work. Even bf2's built in dx9 installer failed all on that same file
like ive said before im on a laptop so anything to do with replacing parts is more than its worth + it was working fine on last reformat. I HIGHLY doubt its hardware considering its just saying the file is not digitally signed by microsoft. the guy at microsoft had me reinstall service pack 2 which im doing right now but its been installing for like 70 fucking minutes its not frozen because its installing new files nonstop but it just keeps going and going and going... no progress on the bar either.
ok just great i installed sp2 which has dx9 bundled with it so it should have been all good right? WRONG i fucking restart my computer and it crashes after the windows loadup screen. Its like its trying to get to the welcome screen except it restarts itself everytime it does. now im real pissed off and i dont have dx9 and my comp wont start up to windows and another reformat is just retarted.
go download hirens boot cd.. boot it and check your hard drive for bad sectors. or... switch to linux and never game again
download it with what? this thing im on now cant burn a cd and i just an old piece of crap. My main one wont start up. None of this is making any sense and its confusing the hell out of me, first dx wont work now installing sp2 wont allow windows to start up. anyone have an idea why this would be happening OTHER than a bad HD.
what are you using to format the hard drive with? or are you doing the "quick" ntfs and not the regular? try "Active Kill Disk" it can run from a USB drive and ive found it to be the easiest in formatting.
You need a hdd m8, Like i told you last night, test the RAM with memtestX86 (if your lappy has a floppy) same with the HDD test. X
Replacing HD's on Laptops is not that difficult...Most laptops come with instructions on how to do this...
my laptop came with no instructions and no cd's. i have no floppy drive i cant even start up my computer and i guess from what all of you are saying is i should reformat or get a new computer?
