hey guys i finally recently bought a new Comp, its an intel pentium D 2.8Ghz dual core, my question is since it has those intel integrated graphix, im definitely gettin a GFX card just wanted your opinion on wether or not if this GFX card is a good buy, and wether i should keep vista on the comp, or downgrade it back to XP since i hear alot of trouble from it, anyways here is the link for the card, i just want something that will play COD4 and portal and things like that my last comp had a radeon 9200 http://www.compusa.com/applications/Search...mp;Sku=P56-8602
better retailer, better manufacturer, better heatsink for $20 less http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814125063
awesome thx for the quick reply im glad i came here and asked since i dont know crap about those specs, on another note the comp only has a 300w psu, should that be upgraded as well for the card dont want to cause a bottleneck situation
i'd say wait it out... a little... the 9600 Nvidia series are out and under $200 and its jsut like a 8800 but for dx10 support and u could go dual wield on these mofo and enjoy raw power...its said this is more use for ppl with biiig ass moniters lol
I would get a new psu for sure as my just blew out. Mine blew out though because i didn't have a pci-e power supply on it. I would say get at least a 500W and make sure it has a pci-e power supply If you get that video card that fuzion recommended, post a pic on here. That fucker looked huge!!
If your budget is a bit under $200 (based on the card you were asking about in your original post), I'd say you should go for a 8800GT. I saw on ZZF that EVGA's 8800GT is $179 after a $30 rebate. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ctCode=10007134 There are other brands too that are dropping below $200 recently with the release of the 9600s. Yea, like butz said, go with a 8800gt rather than the 9600gt as it still outperforms it for the most part.
thx for all the replies and suggestion i ended up buyin http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ctCode=10007134 for the card and for the psu got http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817103941 thx again for all the suggestions and in a few days will finally be able to get my ass shot a lot on cod4 wit u guys
good choice on both nitewolfe, i have pretty much the same card..evga is good, and the psu is a good one too.
