Download a demo file (.dm_1) Make a new folder: C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\demos Put the dm file there and launch the game At the main menu, type ~ to drop the console and type /demo demoname (you can tab complete this) You also have to copy any demos you have made to this same folder: C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\main\demos won't work
