The FX series is outdated. Even when claming its DX9, I tend to thinks its a very early build of it and is not capable of keeping up with the mainstream of DX9 functions. Id get a PCI E MB and go from there. The 6600GT is a very solid card for the low end next gen cards. Most of the die hard gamers are holding out for DX 10 hardware, which is right around the corner, and an actually practical build of Vista.

"1028 x 768" is not lowest setting. I played 640x480 for the longest time. 6x8 was pushing it.

try that and set evrything you can to "off"
