I hope u can help me out with my PC, My problem started i believe when i changed Internet services, i went from DSL to Cable, what its doing is after a period of about 1 hour of being connected it slows down every process to the point that i have to reset to be able to get it working again, i tried one night leaving the computer running but with no internet connection and it seemed to be fine in the morning, Please help what do you suggest? Processor: Intel
thats kind of a head scratcher mero... id say that its likely that your box is infested with some sort of malware you could be part of a bot net used for scanning machines or something if you happen to have an nvidia nforce chipset, try uninstalling their media sentry nvidia firewall or whatever the fuck that is called. ive heard that it sucks balls and causes problems. also, check your net status in the task manager and compare it to your cpu usage, if your cpu is getting around 50% while your network usage is high then id say its probably some malware... if none of this is true, then id start with the basic memtest/temps/hdscan if those are fine then reinstall windows xp1der?
1 Spyware Terminator (Click Here) Download and run that on your computer. 2 Registry Mechanic (Click Here) Link is for a torrent file download the program install it and run it. 3 Go to START > RUN > type in "MSCONFIG" > go to the STARTUP tab... If you know your shit work out which ones you need to be checked and which ones dont need to be checked... Otherwise upload an image and I could help you. 4 DONT RUN PROGRAMS SUCH AS YAHOO MESSENGER, MSN MESSENGER ETC. 5 If you are using Zonealarm Firewall make sure it is on "GAME MODE" when you play. 6 Buy the worlds greatest Anti Virus IMO that takes up hard any system resources "Kaspersky Anti Virus". 7 Lavasoft Ad-Ware (Click Here), Also download and run this program. 8 Go to Internet Explorer then go to TOOLS > INTERNET PROPERTIES > then in the "temporary internet files", click on SETTNGS, there will be a little scroller bar at the bottom make sure that is DRAG BAR TO FAR LEFT to 1mb... AND... close that little windows and then click on delete files, CHECK THE BOX THAT SAYS "DELETE ALL OFFLINE CONTENT" and click ok. 9 If you think you have a trojan on your computer google a program called "STINGER"its made by McAfee. 10 The only other thing i can think of is to press CTRL+ALT+DEL and close most of the programs that you recognise that you dont want to run, it might take a trial and error with a few reboots but once u worked out which ones are imporatnt and which ones are not then thats for your extreme beneift. 11 another thing is windows xp uses a theme try and change that back to the standard theme... but that will only help a slight bit compared to everything else that i have mentioned.
This pisses me off i paid 70 dollars for McCafee or what ever the damn name is for the antivirus and it didn't find this 8 yes 8 trojans were in my computer. TY very much
holy shit dude! i usually stop scanning my customers boxes after 2000 one time i found over 100,000 malwarez on one machine
yeah let me find it again and ill post it.. my computer was goin so slow that i had to take the damn picture with my digital camera.. ill edit this post edit: here ya go.. 2 pics showin the progress and files and whatnot
Man how did you get your digital camera to take a picture of the monitor without it being all fucked up? Mine always come out like this big glowing thing or all fucked up because of the refreshing or whatever
My computer did get a lot better, i also found about 40 trackers, but still have an issue where the hard drive keeps making noise, sorta like a cycle noise constant sound and all processes slow way down, this happens after about 1/2 hour of operation i can be doing something or just letting it sit idling , sometimes it will work when its doing that but most times i have to restart. Any ideas?
normally i'd say that your drives are gonna die soon, but my pair of 160's click when starting and such, but there is nothing "wrong" with them. I think its because I turned of their acoustic manager. however, you could benefit from getting Hirens boot cd. It has a tool that will dump ALL of the SMART data, and that is usually a good indicator for hard drive health. It also has a tool for surface scans and a LOT of other stuff. I swear by Hirens, and use it every day.
