For those getting the, "The application failed to start because it could not find d3dx9_37.dll, reinstalling may fix the problem". Download and install the latest DirectX. You can find it here: http://tinyurl.com/66sq6l
What about an immediate "encountered an unhandled win32 exception" windows error? DX update won't fix that. No splash, no black screen, just immediate error on launch.
go into your msconfig and turn off all startup items... You may want to go through your Services as well and turn off all that you know you don't need to run the game... Make sure you check the box... "Hide Microsoft Services" if you still get the issue, then you may have a hardware incompatibility... --------------------------- Cletus, try this.... Code: PCI telephone modem card was causing my issue. Disabling it lets game run fine! My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Sound, vid/game Controllers > UNIMODEM Half Duplex Audio Device > DISABLE
I'm gonna try this when I get home... http://www.callofduty.com/board/viewtopic....=52&t=42380 <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div>
