UAN now has a BF3 server hosted in Europe! Well more than half of our regular player base is playing out of Europe, so I thought it was something that we should at least try. I think this may be a great opportunity for us to grow and improve our community. It's really nice having players on and around 24/7. Now you have a group of guys that are on in the AM and early afternoon hours and then in the later PM hours you have another group of guys on. Essentially leading to a wider range of time when there are guys on willing and able to game. http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/serve...ket-Fast-Spawn/ The server is hosted in Amsterdam which offers some of the biggest and baddest data centers around. The server is also hosted on a very similar spec'd machine that we host our other BF3 servers on (E3-1270 proc) so the server runs silky smooth. A fair amount of testing was done at various providers and locations until we found one that would suit our Euro brothers and stateside brothers the best. We found a great combo and when I play on the server it runs super smooth (other stateside guys that tested it also agree... Murder, Whiskey, Rocks). Since this is a test project, I'm going to flip the bill for this server initially to see if it's something we can maintain and grow.
This is also advantageous for players who might have to work midnight/late evening shifts and need a full server to play on.
yes... very nice... very very nice. Great pings and smooth play for us American folk as well... We love our dutchbags!!!
Today's first day up traffic was very solid... we just need to put the time into the grind in getting this server populated like we have with all of our other servers. It will take some effort and time to get the repeat traffic and individual players to start favoriting the server. We have been here before and we know that to do

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Bender @ Mar 4 2012, 02:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div> ^^ This! <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Bender @ Mar 4 2012, 02:17 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div> I'm really happy with the Full First Saturday night guys! As well as with the solid performance of the server and you stateside guys having a smooth gameplay over here as well! YipYipYip!
Great server so far, runs very smooth, although it just crashed on us like 2 mins ago lol.. it's online again and running ok. cool to see so many low rank players joining the servers, this means NEW players. good work guys.
Did the server actually crash (e.g the server went offline) or did a bunch of players all get disconnected at once?
I'm pondering with the idea of moving the server location to Germany. After a littlle research it seems like the vast majority of servers in the Netherlands drop off in the night. While servers based in Germany maintain strong traffic similar to stateside servers. Idk let me thunk on it a bit I'm going to try out some German servers tomorrow from the same provider.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Bender @ Mar 5 2012, 12:25 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div> True & I'm down with it.
Ok the server was officially moved from the Netherlands to Germany. The new server can be seen here: Although it's a completely whipped and new server with a new GUID/IP, we were able to sync the old BL ID to the new server. So if you favorited the old server, the new German based server will show up
It's the same performance wise as NL. You haven't played on it yet but once you do you'll notice it's the same. 20ms increase is not really going to affect you. Others from the states earlier had no complaints.
After moving the server it went strong from 12:00PM - 11:20PM EST. The server took a dump and all of the players were disconnected. The server didn't crash but all players were disconnected while the server was still running. So either it was an EA Blaze thing, RCON command freakout or something connection service side related. I was testing a balancing plugin again because teams seemed to keep getting really unbalanced (I guess this is something we will need to deal with on our own opposed to relying on a plugin), at any rate I think this was the culprit and caused a RCON mass disconnect. I know better to mess around with more than one thing at once because then you can't the isolate issue. We will try again tomorrow
