Somehow, I heard of DOCSIS (cable modem) over satellite... I'm not sure where or who offers it, but I know that it would be around 3-6Mbs down and 256-768Kbs up... I think you can get it for reasonably cheap, no more than $100/mth plus $500 or so for equipment... I also saw these guys on TV dropping massive fiber lines all over the carribean. Since the fiber is already there you ought to be able to get a sub DS-1 link to your house for $200-500+ but you have to buy special equipment. (hello eBay!) Anyway, call everyone. Even the big guys. Tell them your daddy owns the bank that owns their company or some shit... Don't accept anything less than 3Mb down and 512Kb up... Make sure you tracert to Dallas is under 30 hops... From there, you will get low hops to any of the other major metro areas. Which means playable pings. I am 14 hops to layeredx and i get 28 ping average... (their webserver, not our gameserver)
the fiberglass cables cost too much here.. plus they are going to launch that project next year and then ill be in europe with a 20mbit connection (gonna study up there next year) and the highest that we CAN get here is 1mbit/256kbit so it sux anyway.. idk what to do lol
