vid card settings

I dont know what's up. I can play bf2 and counterstrike at high settings no problem but CoD2 isnt taking.

I've tried setting everything as low as it goes and I cant get more than 20 fps. And at that point, it's impossible to see anything anyways.

It was working earlier and I haveent made any changes i know of, except when trying to make it better.

if I do "optimal system settings" it sets everything at max and I get 1fps.

I use optimal defaults then set DX7 and 2x AA

Im not sure what happened beecause now i cant get over 2 fps

This caused a memory dump/crash and upon reboot, everything looked fucked up.

I already tried to install 91.47 from nvidia, it said "no compatible drivers found for your hardware.

nvidia geforce go 7400 for laptop.

Did you download the XTreme-G Mobile Edition Drivers?

Also, I dont know if drivercleaner works with geforce go cards...

I dont think it's a driver issue. CSS and BF2 work great and I somehow think CoD2 should be less demanding.

it is less demanding, hmm, try to put optimal system settings and then reboot, else try to run cod2 in safe mode once, then quit it and start the normal ver again, if that still dont work try setting the optimal system settings AGAIN. this procedure works for me often, i get this same exact problem alot too... it surely is cod2, since i got 4 versions of cod2 with all kinds of patches etc and i keep em seperated for lanparties.. and when i run another cod2 it works perfectly but just that one doesnt, it has to be something with the settings.

I would like to know what setting is best for the texture filter option and what they mean. Also, what is sync every frame?

sync every frame means your refresh rate will be the highest FPS your system can achieve

texture filter options etc depends on what your vid card supports, the FX series of geforce arent as good as for instance GT, the best way to find out is to google your exact video card and see if it supports it and how many bitrate it supports

one thing to note: this is not an installed copy.

I copied the folder from my desktop to my laptop.

are the ones you had problems with installed or copied? and if installed, did you switch cards afterwards?

you could try deleting all of your profile folders from any mod folders and the main folder. that should start you off with a clean slate. but unless they're corrupt it probably wont do any good...

If you change settings and then load a game, it will erase the settings after you exit.
To avoid this you must exit the game right after you change your settings.

try copying the game from the desktop to laptop again, that shud work

i would say that you might as well redo it or get new hardware...

i can honestly say that cod2 is one game i have not had to fuck with...
