I'm trying to get my neighbor hooked up with CoD4 but his computer does not have a video card. In trying to keep his costs down, which card would you recommend? PS. I'm not sure if his mobo is PCI or PCI-e ...
Yeah ... He says it's a dell that he bought "a year or two ago" ... if it's not a PCIe then I'll tell him what Fuzion said.
If he knows the Dell model number, then the slot specs can be looked up. I know from experience that a 7600GT is just playable...he'll just have to be able to take the constant frustration of dying without knowing where and how Adogg came from. What's his budget? The 8800GT's are starting to break below $200 which is why I recently upgraded. It's so so much better. If he can't afford that, then you should not be getting him into gaming cuz you'll be sending him to the cleaners.
Thanks for the tip on the 88s .... I got an email from EVGA that the 96 series are out now ... maybe that's helping to drive down the 88s. I'll find out the model number and get back to you.
I got 7600 GT KO and I can clearly see Adogg owning me everytime. But for sure no lower than what I got.
Had the 7600 GT 256 mb and it ran fine on the lowest settings, have the 8600 GT 512 mb now and it runs much better. I wish I would have spent the extra ching now on the 8800 but I guess I have the option of SLI though, never tried it so it will be happening soon.
I just spoke with him and I'm trying to get him to buy this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130082 But he said he saw a 9200 in the paper this weekend? WTF is a 9200?
The ATI Radeon 9200? No way...that has to be from 5 years ago. You can still buy it? I thought it'd be discontinued by now.
